Namchi Public School is situated in Namchi, South District of Sikkim, at an altitude of about 4500 ft. above mean sea level. It is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. In order to prepare the students for the examinations, a well worked out programme is conducted through classes LKG to XII. The medium of instruction is English. Nepali, Hindi and Tibetain are offered as second languages. It is compulsory for the students to study one of these languages. Computer Science, Physical Education, Economics and Commerce are offered as additional subjects. Students of class VIII and above will have to take one of these subjects. In the ISC section, Science and Commerce streams are available at present.

ROUTINE AND DISCIPLINE

The school year begins in February and ends in December. The year is divided into three terms :

1st term                      February, March, April and May
2nd term                    June, July, August and September
3rd term                     October, November and December

Classes begin daily with assembly at 8:30 am and end at 3:15 pm.

The discipline is formation-oriented and is based on the concept of freedom with responsibility. Therefore our management is kind but strict. Value Education and Enviromental Science are given importance at NPS. Mass and prayers are compulsory for Christian students. Special prayers are conducted on important occasions. ADMISSION

New students can be admitted to classes I - VIII and XI. Admission tests are conducted in English and Mathematics. Application form can be downloaded from the link below or can be obtained from the school from 1st of July every year.

Application forms must be accompanied by birth certificate, health cetificate, marksheets and one copy of latest passport size photograph. The prospectus is available in the school office on payment of Rs.200/-.
Please contact the Principal if admission is needed to classes X and XII.
Applications for admission to class XI will be accepted in the month of February every year. Classes of XI will start in the first week of April.

BOARDING FACILITIES

Namchi Public School offers boarding facilities for boys and girls. The Fathers run the boys hostel and the girls hostel is under the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus.
